2018 General Assembly

At the end of every Session, I like to take the opportunity to reach out to my constituents to let you know what was accomplished by the General Assembly this year. I was thrilled that 4 pieces of legislation I sponsored were passed into law this session in a unanimous bipartisan fashion, including bills providing tax breaks for volunteer fire and EMS personnel; treating correctional officers more fairly under our workers compensation law; reigning in the Maryland Historical Trust's ability to indefinitely delay repair projects; and improving and expanding the One Maryland tax credit, a vitally important program for economic development in Western Maryland.

In the 2018 Session, I was the primary sponsor or primary co-sponsor of ten pieces of legislation and co-sponsored over 100 bills, including virtually all of Governor Hogan's legislative agenda, in addition to serving as the primary sponsor for numerous pieces of Allegany County legislation in my capacity as Delegation Chair.

I very much believe in the potential of Allegany County. I'm honored and humbled to represent District 1-B in the General Assembly. If you would like more detailed information on actions taken during the 2018 Session, please send me a note and I would be happy to email you.
